William Two Feather is of Apache descent. For over 10 years Two Feather trained with 3 traditional elders from 3 different tribes in the US Southwest.

During the past 15 years he has traveled the world lecturing, teaching, advising and also learning traditional healing techniques from other cultures including Japan; Australia and New Zealand; Italy; Greece; Wales; Scotland and many others.

Two Feather’s expertise includes healing; training spiritual warriors; advancement of practicing healers; working with youth and schools via tough love programs; individual spiritual consultations and improving the health of the elderly. He believes that teaching Native American Earth Music ™ is a means of healing and promoting self esteem in simple yet traditional ways. Being a spiritual teacher comes as a bit of a shock when first faced with the possibility. It continually made my skin crawl. Not because I don’t want to do it, but who would feel adequate for the job? And yet, the role unwittingly is engaged by me as I seek out truths for our lives, who we are, what we’re here to do, and other such questions. I can’t help myself!

The biggest problem is that while it may be easy to tell someone what to do, we can often times recognize that doing it ourselves is not always so easy. This can be a good thing though for the teacher to experience. It permits the student the luxury of receiving compassion from a teacher who understands the difficulties that this quest will involve.

As I wondered today about some simple events leading to these thoughts, I found myself querying the lack of progress in my past. What came up was, “Have I been paying attention?” I realized immediately that a significant part of the problem was that I had not been paying enough attention. For that matter, I think most of us don’t pay enough attention.

Paying attention to what? Good question to ask. I don’t think that we pay enough attention to ourselves. We’re so busy trying to do something, prepare for something, get ready for something, compete for something, to get ahead, to fit in, be a part of the crowd, wondering what other people think, that we forget to pay attention to the most important person in our life: Our own Self. How do you do that?

Oh… good question! Really good question! How do you pay attention to your own self? Well, I have noticed that when I stopped trying so hard and slowed down long enough to pay attention, I began to notice something extraordinary going on in my mind. Yes, many conversations happening within the creative mind. Interesting, conflicting, fearful, worrying, funny, fantastical conversations with two to three sides. Ever notice that? I’m sure you have.

Here’s the real kicker. When you can notice all these internal conversations that you’re having with yourself, try to notice the quiet one. There is another part of self that sits and watches all this crap going on and around “itself” inside your mind. Who do you think that quiet one is? Really? Who?

That’s the spiritual you. The one that wishes you’d stop bickering with your self, your life, and stop listening to all the crap the outside world fed you. That is the one that wants you to trust you – that quiet you – the one that knows who you are and what you are here for. Have you learned to trust that quiet one? We always seem to pay much more attention to the noisy shouters in our minds. I challenge you to pay closer attention to the real you.

A Love Letter from the Divine…

I want you to know that I love you very much. It doesn’t matter to me if you eat fudge ice cream in your vintage underwear in the middle of the night. And I think you’re precious, not following through on your Gratitude Journal yet, fourth year running. Beloved, I’m not the least bit concerned with those unsavoury thoughts about your ex. I am not limited to momentary facts. I know your shimmering nature. I know how AMAZING you are.

But if I’m honest, I am a little concerned about this. I wonder why you don’t trust the desires that have always been yours. You strive to ignore your wildest dreams because they feel so good, but I thought that surely you’d recognize their unrivalled power because they feel so good. Please know I supplied you with unstinting resources and a hunger strong enough to make any of your desires come true. And surely you’ve noticed a few of the lines I’ve written for you in some of the self-help books you’ve read. I keep putting those books out there and you even keep buying them. But, still, I find you sitting in the corner as though you are an orphan child, as though you’ve been abandoned without a key, a charm, a brand new GPS system and an entourage waiting just for you. I even hear you whisper, “I don’t know what to do.”

But I gave you a Free Pass. I gave you a Free Pass to the life that stirs your blood and strengthens your bones. Yes, of course there are challenges. But I thought you’d enjoy the thrill of the chase that way. I didn’t want to make it easy. I know your strength and capacity. I thought you’d find the deluxe wild ride entertaining. I didn’t think you’d ever believe that circumstances could stop you. You are unstoppable. You are branded with my love and with my infinite energy.  But here’s the thing. When you stop believing in your soul’s desires, you’ve stopped believing in me. When you give up on yourself, you don’t feel my Presence anymore. Now that just destroys me. I’ve sung to you from the radios and sent morning doves and dragon flies to mark your path. I’ve used your life coaches and therapists to tell you the truth. I whisper to you constantly. Sometimes I even press down on your heart or turn the flames up on your blood pressure. I’ll do anything dear one to reach you. I’ll never give up on you. I want you to know what you’re here for. I want you to stop denying what you know. Your doubt is poison. It is not protecting you.

Now I know that you think you will not be rewarded in the world for your singular expression, temperament, and abilities, but I tell you it is not true, dear one. You will know nothing but reward when you share your love. You will transform into another you, the real you, the one without limits, shame, fear or regrets. So dearest Beloved, I send you a thousand roses of Spirit and ten thousand dark chocolates of soul. I don’t want a tryst with you. I want the whole thing, the Grand Love Affair of watching you bloom and heal and let go of every false limitation you’ve ever believed about yourself or the rest of your shining world. These thoughts only make you tired. The truth would have you laughing and clapping and hugging every precious soul around you. I want you to burst through the density of this world with the power of your totality. I want you to know what it’s like to fully trust your love and not look over your shoulder. I want you to know I’ve got your back, your front, your sides, and your soul. I want you to honour your true desires because they are your arrows. And like Cupid, I’ve shot them through your heart. Cupid copied me by the way! Please know that whatever you choose–and whenever you choose it– you are loved and sustained in ways you can’t even fathom from your side of the veil. You are my Beloved and I’m always here for you.  Happy Valentine’s Day….everyday!

You are a spiritual being. You recognize something in you that is greater than the experience you may be living. Trust that part of who you are.

Our difficulty in our society is due to all the conditioning we have had through education and culture that places so much emphasis on our mind and denying our emotions. You have not been properly taught about your true spiritual nature and that the mind, body, and emotions are tools to serve you.

These concepts can be quite challenging to accept, particularly if your family history and life experience is steeped in religion. Yet, all religions, in some way or another, do not contradict what is being said, nor are they contradictory to what science has discovered at the quantum level and beyond. All that is required is the ability to recognize the time period of religious origins, the knowledge and understanding of the day, and that the scriptures conveyed a message in the best possible way that could be understood at that time.

Even in areas where no organized religion exists spirituality is an integral strand in the fabric of society. From bush people to native americans, Australian aboriginals, prehistoric caveman at some point in time, have all had those within their ranks that had a deeper sensitivity to something beyond the common experience. Shamans, medicine men and women, and whatever other titles they were given, all had a relationship with the divine, were more sensitive to the mystical, and had a capacity to understand mankind’s relationship to Creation in the best possible context given the knowledge available to them in that time.

You came into this world for a purpose. Your spiritual self is that part of you that inspires you to action. The soul cries out at the pain of living small, rather than your potential. The soul also carries the pain of the trespasses against the spirit on many other levels; transgressions of mankind against spirit. Remember? Spirit is love and you treat others the way you wish to be treated. These tales and expressions fit the model. Spirit to spirit you and I are the same, are one, and in loving you, I love myself. In violating you, I violate myself. The soul cries in anguish. Live to your spiritual potential, or experience the pain and anguish of the souls experience as it remembers the phsyical experience of being human.

The body, mind, and emotions experience the manifestation of the reality you create. Through socializing and conditioning, particularly between the ages of 10 to 13 years old, as we discover our own reasoning abilities, most will experience some traumatic events in school, family, or life at large. Without the adequate social supports, healthy family dynamics, etc., the child is left to fizzle in the confusing array of contradictory social and spiritual realities that are at odds with each other in their daily experience. Imagine the confusion, particularly in a society that is so bereft of proper spiritual, body, mind, and emotion education.

There is a lot more to us than what we are taught. We are energy, we are spirit, and we are all those aspects we have been taught as well; physical, mental, sexual, and emotional. We are complex and yet, from the energetic spiritual level, everything can be made easier to understand and manage. You then begin to enjoy the experience of being human, of being alive, and learning the meaning and various facets of the physical body:

* the mind and its thoughts;
* the emotions and the values they represent;
* the body and its requirements for safety and security.

We are complex and yet, so simple.

In order to understand the basis of this energetic spirit, it is important that one understand the origins of the universe. All matter is not really matter, it is energy. The science of today has made major discoveries beyond our previous understanding that clearly demonstrates that all matter is made from bands, or strings, of energy. In fact, for a time it was called String Theory. As the anomalies and discrepancies in the theory were resolved, it was renamed M-Theory and clearly shows that we live in a reality that includes 11 dimensions.

I also recommend watching the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!?™ which is now available in video stores for rent or purchase. And if you haven’t seen it yet, check out The Official Dr. Wayne Dyer Website and discover the magic of The Power of Intention. This program is aired frequently on PBS stations all across North America. As you absorb all of this new information, watch for the common threads that link it all together, including the great teachings of the worlds religious texts. Science can help make better sense of religion.

One thing I have in addition to what I’m viewing and reading about these discoveries is something more. Where many scientists may now think they fully understand the beginning and end of the universe and its origins, I’m further challenged by the fact that all of this energy came from somewhere. God still exists in this model. Science has always had the means to help us make more sense of the world, the universe, of creation, of God and of God’s instructions.

You see, God rocked the boat today.

I told a little funny story about how I became an ordained minister. Me! An ordained Minister!? I am so anti-religion and have spit God from my mouth, and done whatever I could to eliminate this struggle with needing to know and prove empirically that my observations, thoughts, and out-of-this-realm experiences had some substance. Unfortunately, that doesn’t describe Spirit, Quantum Theory, the Wind, Existence (nothingness – One – All), and so on. Yikes! And now, here I am an ordained minister which I can explain easier than God.

So my funny Facebook story (here if you can see it without signing in) stirred the pot and got a reaction and response from a friend. Nothing serious really, but when trying to be funny you illicit a contemplative response, you realize just how serious it all becomes. Duh! God = Terrorism since 9/11, and has been the source of much conflict (surf “God = Terrorism.”)

So, I wonder, does this really have anything to do with God? Highly unlikely. Blaming God avoids personal responsibility and accountability.

Interesting?

So, I responded to her with the following, and was quite surprised and enjoyed what came from my fingers into the keyboard. I share here too, not just Facebook.

Well, in part that story was to have a chuckle.

God? What about one living God?

I don’t mean the Christian God, the Muslim God, the Buddhist ‘Existence’, the native Creator, and so on. I mean all are One.

Our problem is memory, language, culture, and experience. Humans often fail – me included – to connect all the dots, realizing that there are more similarities than differences. Difference is often nothing more than perspective based upon a personal experience shaped by the language, culture, education, and habits of a person at any given time, influenced by current social, political, and economic influences. It’s not truth. All those things I mentioned are filters that obscure the Truth. And the Truth, well… the Truth just IS.

Meaning here or not, humans extinct or not, LIFE GOES ON. Are we really so significant?

In my own mind… I’m sure.

Crows – Towards the sun i fly, not as Icarus.

All of nature belongs to the cosmic dance of the existence we share. Native americans have a long history of honoring and respecting this fact. Animals and other natural elements offer signs, omens, legends, wisdom, and more to their culture and spiritual beliefs. For Christians, my research into some of their oral stories reveals that a number of their stories of creation, the flood, and such, actually mirror tales in the bible. I say this so you’ll simply entertain, rather than taking issue with what comes next.

For days and weeks now, Crow has been a recurring animal in my life. This shouldn’t seem like a surprise in this city as there are so many of them everywhere and I’m sure you have similar experiences where you live. This makes it difficult to determine if something unique to my experience was happening regarding my noticing. Nevertheless, I couldn’t shake the feeling that my observations were accurate that Crow was trying to tell me something. Yesterday, and the day before, realizing the difficulty in determining if my hunch was right, I put a clear thought in my head that I needed a sign that was far more obvious.

This afternoon I left home to join a friend of mine for a coffee. On the walk over, on the opposite side of the street, I saw two Crows squawking and making a huge ruckus and a third on the ground. The hatchling was pushed and the parents were frantic, protective, and encouraging (in a scolding way to my ears ) the young bird to get their butt off the pavement and up into the tree. A pedestrian, oblivious to what was happening continued walking up the sidewalk near where this was occuring, resulting in a dive-bomb run from one of the parent crows. I didn’t take this to be a sign, this was just the season and they were on the other side of the street. Nonetheless, it was very entertaining and wonderful as new life always is an awesome thing and I continued on my way.

I got about a block further along and suddenly, out of nowhere, a solitary Crow swooped down from behind me and right past the top of my head, parking himself in a tree just a few metres ahead. After witnessing what I saw back up the street, I was ready to dismiss this as another protective parent. Standing in one place, looking about, I wondered where the baby was and where the other parent was. Then I realized he wasn’t squawking either like the panicked parents normally do. So I retraced my steps a few paces, looking into the trees, on the street, under the cars, into the bushes and lawn, wondering where the baby was hiding. There was no other Crow. This suddenly seemed to be the obvious sign I was looking for.

Once back home, I began to research the traditional legends of Crow and Crow Medicine as taught by the First Nations People. I have resources available to me in my private library related to many traditions, religions, and mystics that have amazing connections to what we experience and interweaves well into each other, supporting rather than negating each other. Here is what it says about Crow:

Crow

There is a medicine story that tells of Crow’s fascination with her own shadow. She kept looking at it, scratching it, pecking at it, until her shadow woke up and became alive. Then Crow’s shadow ate her. Crow is Dead Crow now.

Dead Crow is the Left-Handed Guardian. If you look deeply into Crow’s eye, you will have found the gateway to the supernatural. Crow knows the unknowable mysteries of creation and is the keeper of all sacred law.

Since Crow is the keeper of sacred law, Crow can bend the laws of the physical universe and “shape shift.” This ability is rare and unique. Few adepts exist in today’s world, and fewer still have mastered Crow’s art of shape shifting. This art includes doubling, or being in two places at one time consciously; taking on another physical form, and becoming the “fly on the wall” to observe what is happening far away.

The Europeans that came to Turtle Island were named the “boat peple” by Slow Turtle. Even with the knowledge of alchemy possessed by certain boat people, none had ever seen the powerful shape shifting of the shamans who utilized Crow medicine. Many boat people were frightened by what appeared to be animals coming into their camps or dwellings to discern their medicine. Crow medicine people are masters of illusion.

All sacred texts are under the protection of Crow. Creator’s Book of Laws or Book of Seals is bound in Crow feathers. Crow feathers tell of spirit made flesh. Crow is also the protector of the “ogallah” or ancient records.

The Sacred Law Belts, or Wampum Belts, beaded by native women long before the boat people or Europeans came to this continent, contain knowledge of the Great Spirit’s laws, and are kept in the Black Lodges, the lodges of women. The law which states that “all things are born of women” is signified by Crow.

Children are taught to behave according to the rules of a particular culture. Most orthodox religious systems create a mandate concerning acceptable behavior within the context of worldly affairs. Do this and so, and you will go to heaven. Do thus and so, and you will go to hell. Different formulas for salvation are demanded by each “true faith.”

Human law is not the same as Sacred Law. More so than any other medicine, Crow sees that the physical world and even the spiritual world, as humanity interprets them, are an illusion. There are billions of worlds. There are an infinitude of creatures. Great Spirit is within all. If an individual obeys Crow’s perfect laws as given by the Creator, then at death he or she dies a Good Medicine death — going on to the next incarnation with a clear memory of his or her past.

Crow is an omen of change. Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time. The Ancient Chiefs tell us that Crow sees simultaneously the three fates — past, present and future. Crow merges light and darkness, seeing both inner and outer reality.

If Crow medicine appears, you must pause and reflect on how you see the laws of the Great Spirit in relation to the laws of humanity. Crow medicine signifies a firsthand knowledge of a higher order of right and wrong than that indicated by the laws created in human culture. With Crow medicine, you speak in a powerful voice when addressing issues that for you seem out of harmony, out of balance, out of whack, or unjust.

Remember that Crow looks at the world with first one eye, and then the other–cross-eyed. In the Mayan culture, cross-eyeds had the privilege and duty of looking into the future. You must put aside your fear of being a voice in the wilderness and “caw” the shots as you see them.

As you learn to allow your personal integrity to be your guide, your sense of feeling alone will vanish. Your personal will can then emerge so that you will stand in your truth. The prime path of true Crow people says to be mindful of your opinions and actions. Be willing to walk your talk, speak your truth, know your life’s mission, and balance past, present, and future in the now. Shape shift that old reality and become your future self. Allow the bending of physical laws to aid in creating the shape shifted world of peace.

Crow …

Are you “cawing,”

So I may know,

The secrets of balance,

Within my soul?

Or are you sending,

Your sacred “caw”

Just to remind me,

Of universal laws?

Now, this is all very interesting, particularly considering recent events and conversations. In part, my own thoughts, reflections, and awareness around certain issues have revealed some feelings that speak to what Crow suggests. Having had a conversation of significance prior to looking into this, I see again many things said during the conversation that reflected my relationship to what is said about Crow Medicine. In relation to my passionate desire to better unveil the truth, speak about existence, religions, and more importantly the human condition, I cannot deny what is suggested by what Crow says. This is fascinating.
